Here is a video of me just as I got home from work...it shows what it's
like to ride in the snow. If I remember right, I think it was about -15C on
this day. That's a lot warmer than some of the days that I've left for work.
These pictures are all thumbnails, if you click on them they will open to
a larger, clearer picture. The bikes with prices beside them are only to
give an idea of how little money (compared to some things) needs to be spent
on something like this. Most of the bikes shown are last year's models and
aren't available. I haven't been building as many complete bikes this year
(2008) as there just hasn't been the time. For the most part, I've been busy
building up the engines and getting CH80 bicycle engine kits out to people.

Here is was one of my bikes. Gave it away to a friend from work. |

This bike is completely homebuilt and is over 8' long. Believe it or not, it is actually a nice ride and is very comfortable. |

My engines run on NGK spark plugs, and performance ignition wires with boots that allow you to keep the crown on your plug allowing for much more current flow to the plug.
Quality, and high performance.
Awesome! |

Awesome.
This "Commuter" sells for $800 and is a pleasure to ride. |

This is a great low cost way to get around. |

This is a budget priced "Samoa" from Sport-Mart.
I sell these at $550, ready to ride away.
This year it's called the "Pinion", and is forest green in color. |

Here is a Canadian Tire retro-cruiser. I personally am not too much into this style of bike, but I did find it comfortable...that seat is awesome. |
Not really a bike that I would recommend for those that travel quick. This bike only has a single rear coaster brake. It stops decently, but I don't know how quickly it would actually stop in an emergency type of situation.
Looks awesome though. |

These tires weren't the best that I've tried in the snow.
Luckily for me, the bike was sold and shipped to BC the moment it was built...no time for me to crash, lol. Only had enough time for a few shorter rides to make sure everything was installed and adjusted. |

If anyone in the Thunder Bay area sees this bike, please let me know...it was stolen back in September of 2007. |

19.5 inch GranitePeak, made by Columbia. Only the single front disk on this, but believe it or not she used to stop on a dime. The nice front suspension alleviated the endoe situation. |

Going touring thru the hills in the Port Arthur side of town. We spent the day cruising around with 4 kits in the trailer. |

Not an issue on the hills...even with having only the 44 tooth sprocket on at the time. |

Everytime I install an engine kit on one of these Trailhead's, someone buys it within a day or two at the most. I didn't get much play time on this one. |

I miss it already, lol.
The gentleman that bought it (Erkki) said he'll take good care of my baby, lol. He's got to be around 60-70 years old, so I'll take his word for it. Ran into him a few weeks later...he loves his bike as much as I did. |

Here I am on an old ten speed frame that I slapped together out of boredom, lol. I do not recommend using a road bike as your donor vehicle...smaller tires=less traction and touchier handling. |

The price of these bikes is pretty decent too. I think they had only cost just shy of $200 at Sport-Mart. |

Held up to my abuse pretty good. (not this one, but the one that I have, lol) I am rough on my bikes, and likely my own worst customer. |

Another one of those pesky "me" pictures. Taken one day in the winter as I was just getting home from work. |

Another "me", lol. If you happen to see me and want to yap for a bit...feel free to flag me down. |
I do stop if I notice someone is trying to flag me down. |
Here is proof that it can be done. |
Here is a full size "Norco" trike. This is in the "frankenstein" stage. It was a rough and quick installation just to see if it could be done. I had a couple of customers asking at that time, so I went out and bought a trike to see what it would be like. |
My homemade "free-wheeling" jackshaft arrangement. |
This didn't actually free-wheel as well as it was supposed to which made the trike a little uncomfortable to ride...you either moved your legs really quick or had to hold them up and away from the pedals. It was great when it worked and actually did free-wheel though. I haven't had time to get back to playing with the idea, but I hope to sometime soon. |
Tiny little 36 tooth sprocket...not a stock sprocket or anything I carry...this was custom made. |
In my humble opinion, I'd have to say pretty much useless. Your engine can't get to any of the RPM range that it should be running in. This small of a sprocket would only be useful if you were on perfectly flat land with absolutely no head-wind at all and had miles (and miles) without needing to slow down or stop to let the engine get wound up...otherwise, there just isn't any umph to this. |
Huge 62 tooth sprocket. Again, not stock, only custom made...and pricy. |
This one belongs to my boss at where I work. He's building a three-wheeled bike for trail riding, hunting, fishing and wanted a lot of extra torque. He'd probably be able to climb right up the side of the mountain with that thing on his bike, lol. |
I installed this 62 tooth on my bike...just so we could check it out. |
Top speed on a 15 km ride was 42 km/h. Pretty good for something this size. I wouldn't recommend running something this size on anyone else's engine (other than the CH80's). The RPM's that your engine runs at are extreme and would blow a competitor's engine to little bits, lol. Ask those who have tried. That's why the "other guys" try and sell you off on the little sprockets to keep the RPM's of the engine down...shame on them. |

Since we've moved outside of the city, I now ride one of these. I parked the mountain bike (Kinetic) and installed my engine onto this bike. |
A little more of a comfy ride. |
And the saddle bags and rack really come in handy if I need to grab us anything on my way home from work. |

Walmart sells these for $210 including the rack and bags...not the suspension seat post though. |
Overall I like this bike a little better than my "Kinetic". I don't think the road tires will be of much use come winter though. I'll likely be back on a mountain bike for the winter. |
